The Use of an Implant-supported Fixed Partial Denture as Abutment Teeth for Removable Partial Denture in Edentulous Patient: A Cases Report

Abstract
It is not possible to treat all patients with the fixed implant restoration only. Patients who have lost their posterior teeth and wear removable partial dentures for a long time should be considered differently from other edentulous patients in treatment planning. Posterior residual alveolar ridge is getting thinner and more advanced surgery is required for the proper fixture
position. Oral rehabilitation with dentures may be a more appropriate solution in such a case. An implant-supported FPD (fixed partial denture) in the anterior segment can be used as surveyed bridge for traditional clasp RPD (removable partial denture) in the posterior areas. The use of RPDs in conjunction with implants can supply normal emergence profiles, phonetics, lip support, and anterior guidance and vertical dimension are established with the implant supported FPD. The purpose of present case report is to present an effective and viable treatment option in selected cases and emphasize its usefulness and proper indications.
